چکیده

The objective of this work is to innovatively apply the boundary element method (BEM) as a general modeling strategy deal with complicated reservoir problems, especially those related heterogeneity and fracture systems, which are common challenges encountered in practice engineering. transient flow behaviors reservoirs containing multi-scale heterogeneities enclosed by arbitrarily shaped boundaries modeled applying BEM. We demonstrate that BEM-based simulation capable complex heterogeneous robust solutions. technology beneficial making best use geological information. governing differential operator fluid within any locally homogeneous domain solved along its boundary. discretization system only made on corresponding boundaries, advantageous closely conforming reservoir’s description facilitating numerical computational efforts because no gridding needed. Theoretical solutions, terms pressure rate responses, validated exemplified for various reservoir–well including naturally fractured either non-crossing fractures or crossing fractures; fully compartmentalized reservoirs; multi-stage, fractured, horizontal wells stimulated volumes (SRVs) around each stage fracture, etc. A challenging case study network examined. This demonstrates significance adapting BEM due flexibility heterogeneity, analytical solution accuracy, high computing efficiency, reducing technical gap between engineering capacity.

A Semi-Analytical Method for History Matching and Improving Geological Models of Layered Reservoirs: CGM Analytical Method

History matching is used to constrain flow simulations and reduce uncertainty in forecasts. In this work, we revisited some fundamental engineering tools for predicting waterflooding behavior to better understand the flaws in our simulation and thus find some models which are more accurate with better matching. The Craig-Geffen-Morse (CGM) analytical method was used to predict recovery performa...

Flow Simulation in Heterogeneous Reservoirs using the Dual Reciprocity Boundary Element Method and the Green Element Method

Green’s functions are established tools for solving petroleum engineering flow problems. Their utility and rigor was extended to arbitrarily shaped reservoirs using the Boundary Element Method (BEM). Traditional BEMs are limited to single-phase flow in homogeneous reservoirs. Earlier authors have developed techniques to handle heterogeneity. These methods are perturbationbased and computation-i...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method

Evaluation of Fracture Parameters by Coupling the Edge-Based Smoothed Finite Element Method and the Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method

This paper presents a technique to evaluate the fracture parameters by combining the edge based smoothed finite element method (ESFEM) and the scaled boundary finite element method (SBFEM). A semi-analytical solution is sought in the region close to the vicinity of the crack tip using the SBFEM, whilst, the ESFEM is used for the rest of the domain. As both methods satisfy the partition of unity...

Facies Modeling of Heterogeneous Carbonates Reservoirs by Multiple Point Geostatistics

Facies modeling is an essential part of reservoir characterization. The connectivity of facies model is very critical for the dynamic modeling of reservoirs. Carbonate reservoirs are so heterogeneous that variogram-based methods like sequential indicator simulation are not very useful for facies modeling. In this paper, multiple point geostatistics (MPS) is used for facies modeling in one of th...
